Boat & Marine Detailing onFalls & Jordan Lake

Oxidation and chalking gone, gelcoat brought back to a wet shine, and a marine ceramic that keeps scum lines and spray from sticking. We bring a self-contained rig to the marina, the boat ramp, your storage lot, or your driveway. Falls Lake sits on Durham's edge and Jordan Lake is a short run, with Kerr Lake and Hyco Lake up by Roxboro covered too.

Bring back the wet shine, right at the water

A faded, chalky hull isn't done. We compound and polish oxidized gelcoat back to a deep, wet shine, then lock it in so the shine holds all season. Everything happens where your boat sits, from a slip on Falls Lake to your driveway in Hillsborough or Chapel Hill.

Detailing is the whole job here, not a line item tacked onto engine work. The marine shops around Rollingview will happily rebuild your outboard, but ask about oxidation and you get a wax slapped over a chalky hull. We read the gelcoat, correct it to match, and finish it with a coating that actually earns its keep on the water. If you want the cars in your driveway held to the same standard, our mobile car detailing runs the same process.

What We Cover

Everything from the waterline up

Sun, lake water, and dock spray are hard on a boat. We handle the whole vessel, inside and out, so it looks right the next time you back it in at Rollingview or Jordan Lake.

  • Oxidation and chalking compounded off, gelcoat polished back to shine.
  • Gelcoat restoration and wet-sanding for hulls the sun has baked.
  • Marine ceramic and hull wax so scum lines and spray wipe right off.
  • Vinyl, upholstery, and metal cleaned, with seats conditioned and rails polished.

We name the water because we run it. Falls Lake is home base, a short tow from Hillsborough and right against Durham, so most of our marine calls land at Rollingview or Highway 50. Jordan Lake pulls the Chapel Hill and Apex crowd. Up north, Kerr Lake and Hyco Lake near Roxboro see less competition and just as much sun on the gelcoat. Same rig, same process, wherever the boat sits.

Oxidation Removal

Chalky and faded to wet and deep

Carolina sun turns gelcoat into a dull, powdery surface. We read how far the oxidation has gone and correct to match, then seal it so it stays. The same finishing discipline runs through our ceramic coating work.

  • Wash and decon to strip scum lines, water spots, and buildup.
  • Compound to cut the dead, oxidized top layer of gelcoat.
  • Polish to refine it to a clear, wet gloss with no haze.
  • Wet-sand first on the hulls that are truly baked.

Marine Ceramic

Marine ceramic, slicker than wax

Wax burns off a hull in weeks on the water. A marine ceramic coating bonds harder, sheds water, and makes algae, scum, and dock spray wipe off instead of stain. Ask about it when you request a quote.

  • Sheds water and scum, so waterline stains rinse instead of etch.
  • Holds the gloss for one to two seasons of deep shine.
  • Makes every wash easier, with less scrubbing at the ramp after a day out.

Boat detailing cost near Durham

Every quote comes down to the length of the boat, how much oxidation the gelcoat has, and whether you want a wax, a sealant, or full marine ceramic. Pontoons, ski and wake boats, cruisers, and yachts each price differently. Because we come to you, there's no haul-out or shop fee, and you get an exact number up front.

Skip the per-foot flat rate you see quoted online. A 20-foot pontoon that needs a wash and wax is nowhere near the same job as a 30-foot cruiser with heavy chalking, and pricing it by length alone ignores condition. Send the make, length, and a few photos through our quote form and we'll usually have a real number back within the hour. Since the rig carries its own water and power, we can quote the boat on its trailer in your driveway just as easily as at the ramp, and you never have to run a hose or find an outlet.

FAQs

Boat detailing questions

Which lakes do you serve?+
Falls Lake is our primary water and sits right on Durham's edge, so it's the shortest run from Hillsborough. We also cover Jordan Lake to the south, plus Kerr Lake and Hyco Lake up by Roxboro. If your boat sits at a marina, ramp, or storage lot on any of the four, we'll bring the shop to it.
Can you detail my boat at the marina or the ramp?+
Yes. Our rig is fully self-contained, so we bring our own water, power, and lighting. We work slip-side, at the boat ramp, in a storage lot, or in your driveway on the trailer across Falls Lake, Jordan Lake, Kerr Lake, and Hyco Lake up by Roxboro.
Can you detail my boat on its trailer at home?+
Absolutely. Because we carry our own water and power, you don't need a hose bib, an outlet, or any prep. Leave the boat on the trailer in the driveway and we'll wash, correct the gelcoat, and coat it right there. A lot of owners prefer this over hauling to a ramp on a busy weekend.
How much does boat detailing cost?+
There's no honest per-foot flat rate, because a 20-foot pontoon that needs a wash and wax is a different job than a 30-foot cruiser with heavy chalking. We quote by the length of the boat and the condition of the gelcoat, plus whether you want a wax, a sealant, or a full marine ceramic. Send the make, length, and a few photos and we'll get an exact number back to you, usually within the hour. No haul-out or shop fee, since we come to you.
How often should I detail my boat?+
On our lakes, a full detail once or twice a season keeps ahead of the two things that do the damage: sun that oxidizes the gelcoat and algae or scum that stains the waterline. A boat kept in the water needs it more often than a trailered boat that gets rinsed and covered. A marine ceramic stretches the interval, since scum and spray wipe off instead of etching in.
What causes the chalky, faded look on my gelcoat?+
That chalky film is oxidation. Carolina sun bakes the gelcoat and the top layer breaks down into a dull, powdery surface. Mild cases compound and polish back to a wet shine; heavily oxidized hulls sometimes need wet-sanding first. A marine ceramic keeps it from coming back as fast.
Marine ceramic vs. wax vs. sealant?+
Wax is the shortest-lived and burns off a hull on the water in weeks. A sealant lasts longer. A marine ceramic bonds hardest, sheds water best, and holds a season or two, the same idea as our ceramic coating for cars. We match it to how the boat is stored and used.
How long does marine ceramic last on a boat?+
Usually one to two seasons on a boat kept in the water, and longer on a trailered boat that gets rinsed and covered. It makes the hull slicker, so scum lines, spray, and algae wipe off far more easily and the gloss holds between details.
Do you clean the interior, vinyl, and upholstery?+
Yes. We deep-clean and condition marine vinyl, scrub non-skid decks, treat mildew and water spots, and clean carpet and upholstery. We finish vinyl with a UV conditioner to slow cracking from sun and lake water.
What kinds of boats do you detail?+
Pontoons, ski and wake boats, bass and center-console boats, cruisers, and yachts. If it floats on Falls Lake, Jordan Lake, or Kerr Lake, we can bring it back. Send the make, length, and a few photos and we'll quote it. Have a camper too? We also handle RV and camper detailing.
